Choosing care in Cambodia
Aesthetic center or medical aesthetic clinic?
The names can sound similar, but the services, provider roles, and questions you should ask may be very different. Start with what you need—not the label on the door.

01 — The short answer
The business name is only a starting point.
A beauty or aesthetic center may focus on appearance, comfort, skincare, hair removal, relaxation, and non-invasive technology. A medical aesthetic clinic may also assess medical conditions, prescribe medication, inject products, or perform clinical and surgical procedures through appropriately qualified healthcare professionals.
Names are not proof of scope, safety, licensing, or provider qualifications. Ask what the exact service is, who performs it, what their role and training are, and what happens if you need medical assessment or follow-up.
02 — Compare the care
Look beyond “beauty,” “aesthetic,” and “clinic.”
Non-invasive beauty and aesthetic care
Often begins with cosmetic goals such as cleansing, hydration, smoother-looking skin, facial comfort, unwanted hair, relaxation, or a firmer-looking appearance.
Medical aesthetic care
May involve diagnosis, prescriptions, injections, treatment of a medical condition, or surgical and other clinical procedures requiring an appropriately qualified provider.
What both should explain
Suitability, the exact product or device, provider role, realistic expectations, possible side effects, preparation, aftercare, and when to seek further help.
03 — Start with your need
Cosmetic goals and medical concerns need different paths.
If your goal is non-invasive beauty or wellness care, compare consultations, treatment explanations, cleanliness, privacy, aftercare, current reviews, and whether the approach suits your comfort and budget.
If you need a diagnosis, prescription, injection, surgery, or help with pain, infection, illness, injury, or a concerning or changing skin condition, choose an appropriately qualified medical provider. Seek urgent medical care for severe or rapidly worsening symptoms.
04 — Questions before booking
Seven clear answers protect your decision.
- What is the exact name and purpose of the service?
- Who will perform it, and what is their role?
- Why might it suit—or not suit—my goal and history?
- Which product, device, method, and settings are proposed?
- What sensations, downtime, and side effects are possible?
- How should I prepare, and what aftercare is required?
- Who do I contact if I have a concern afterward?
